On the frontline, May 16, 195 combat engagements were recorded between the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Russian invaders. The most active enemy activity occurred on the Pokrovske direction, launching 23 attacks during the day.
According to operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 22:00, the data come from the General Staff’s official sources. In total for the day, 195 combat engagements were recorded: the enemy launched 51 air strikes, dropped 182 guided air bombs; used 5,768 kamikaze drones and carried out 2,226 shellings of settlements and Ukrainian military positions.
Breakdown by Frontline Directions
In the North Slobozhanska and Kurs directions, 16 combat engagements were recorded. The enemy launched five air strikes, used ten guided bombs and carried out 80 shellings of settlements and our positions; four of these shellings were carried out by rocket artillery systems.
In the Southern Slobozhanska direction, the enemy conducted five assaults on positions of Ukrainian units in the areas of the settlements of Vovchansk, Radkivka, Hraniv, Izbytske and Starytsia. One combat engagement is ongoing at the moment.
In the Kupiansk direction, defenders repelled two enemy assaults in the areas of Novoosynove and Podoly.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled seven attempts to advance in the areas of Stepove, Novyi Mir, Stavky, Drobysheve, Yampil and Ozerne.
In the Sloviansk direction, the defense forces successfully repelled three attempts by the invaders to advance in the areas of Zakitne and Rai-Oleksandrivka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the defenders halted one enemy attack near Nykyforivka.
The defense forces successfully repelled 11 enemy assaults in the Kostyantynivka direction near Kostyantynivka, Ivanopillia, Illinivka and Stepanivka.
In the Pokrovske direction, the enemy conducted 23 attacks. The foe attempted to advance in the areas of the settlements of Vilne, Kucheriv Yar, Zolotyi Kolodiaz, Nove Shakhove, Bilytske, Hryshyne, Vasylivka, Novooleksandrivka, Rodynske, Novooleksandrivka, Boykivka, Sergiivka and Molodetske.
Based on preliminary estimates, specifically on the Pokrovske direction today 46 occupiers were destroyed and 14 wounded; 11 units of automotive equipment and 8 units of enemy’s special equipment were destroyed, one radio-electronic warfare station and one infantry shelter were destroyed; three units of automotive equipment, three artillery pieces and five unmanned aerial vehicle command posts were damaged. Additionally, about 250 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types were destroyed or suppressed.
In the Oleksandrivka and Orikhiv directions, the enemy did not conduct offensive actions today.
In the Gulyaypilske direction, 17 enemy attacks occurred in the areas of the settlements of Dobropillia, Verkhnya Tersa, Zlahoda, Hirke, Krynychnе, Staroukrainka, Gulyaypilske and Charyivne.
In the Prydniprovski direction, our defenders successfully halted two assault actions toward Antonivka.
In other directions, no significant changes in the situation were recorded, summarized the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The situation on the front remains tense: Ukrainian units continue to hold the line and inflict significant losses on the enemy across various directions.
